Ashton Garrison walked away from her current life to escape the one thing she is unwilling to face. She knows her decision may be selfish, but in the end, leaving will be far less painful for everyone. She now has one goal: live life to the fullest with no regrets and no attachments. What Ashton doesn't count on is how fate always seems to find a way to screw up any good plan.
Nathan Lockton specializes in locating a mark. He's done it over and over again--no attachments and no emotion necessary. What he thought was a routine lost and found job has forced Nathan to deal with something he has always ignored--his feelings. He's never fallen for a target, and yet, he's never met anyone like Ashton. Now deep in a dilemma, Nathan must decide to follow his heart or complete the job he was hired to do.
Love can come when you least expect it. The question is: if the odds are stacked against you, how far are you willing to go for the one you love?
"I'll pick you up at seven," I said, pulling her toward me. I settled my lips against hers for a moment, devouring the sigh of surprise that left her mouth. I pulled the lip that had been enticing me into my mouth and gave it a soft nip with my teeth. It tasted faintly like a combination of cherry lip gloss and minty mouthwash, but it was the heat that beckoned me. I could have made a feast of her lips and mouth. I wanted to explore every inch of them. After a moment, I forced myself to pull away and open my car door.
A yes for a Nathan Lockton...
Maybe all or most of us are dreaming of a guy who is going to sweep us off our feet, carry us when we ask them to, and love us as if the time does not exist.
For me, a Nathan Lockton was a blessing. A blessing girl can never tell is worth to be kept. He resembled a radiant and rare diamond that only one can hold—it's owner—and he's as shiny and pure as a pearl (like his love for Ashton).
His love for cats really got me the most. I never actually experienced a guy who would admit his love for cats *waves at Fred*. It's usually the dogs a man always take with him, and this is something new and interesting for me. Think about it. Having a cat is a very womanly nature. A woman having a lot of cats means she's alone and feels like there's nobody destined to be with her until she breathes her very last breath. How lonely can that be? And to think and imagine that happen to Nathan, I just want to rip my heart off and give it to him. He must be very lonely, not until Ash came bouncing into his life in that very same bar where they have met.
Nathan is a strong and a determined person. He's very serious with his job and he's been very serious with Ash. I've never met one yet, in reality. It sucks when the people surrounding you, is determined but isn't strong enough to fight for what they want. And to think that Nathan is the exact opposite. He's as real as I can imagine him moving. He's carefree, loyal, and enticing... He might have lied from the very beginning but he sure did made up for it in the end. He became very attached, which he promised he wouldn't be.I know you're dreaming of your very own version of a real Nathan Lockton, but I have to cut you from your dreaming right now.
"Books provide the ultimate getaway for me. A good story is a vehicle that takes you to another place, another time, or another world. I love reading the words and letting my imagination do the rest. I appreciate and respect every author who has the courage to put your work out there for the world to see."
